Loss of a Pen-y-bont SLSC Legend.

It is with much sadness that I report the sad loss of Mr. David Lewis.
Known to all his friends as Dia. (Splash) Lewis.
Dai. was a member of over four decades and never stopped working during his lifetime.

He was rated as one of our best Club Captains ever; an exceptional Vice Chairman,
Plus a Champion Fundraiser, with his wife Wendy Who always worked along side him,
Their Bridgend Flag Days were one of their Annual events, which raised thousands of pounds over the years.

He was a man for all seasons and an inspiration to everyone.
He was an example of what being a Great Club Member Means.

Not only for me, but also for all our committees and members,
Dai was such a joy to work with; He gave 100% and never asked for anything in return.

He will also be very much missed by SLSA Wales, who he worked for as an Examiner in the old days and then an Assessor in our new terminology.
Hear again he would always make himself available and conducted so many Examinations on behalf of SLSA Wales.
I was so privileged in 2014 as President to present him with his Life Membership Award in recognition for his work and commitment to SLSA Wales.

In very simple words, which everyone within the Surf Lifesaving family will share,
Dai (Splash) Lewis was the Salt of the Earth.

As a very much loved and respected man he will live in our hearts forever.

Above all, Dai was such a great family man and our thoughts today are with Wendy and all of the family.

At this very sad time.
