Help shape the future of Welsh high-performance lifesaving.

The Surf Life Saving Association of Wales is now inviting expressions of interest for the 2027–2029 Welsh Team Management.

Over recent years, a huge amount of work has gone into developing and supporting Welsh teams, and we want to build on that strong foundation. Now, as we look towards the next phase of Welsh high-performance lifesaving, we are looking for people who want to be part of creating something bigger.

We want to build a clear, ambitious and sustainable performance pathway that supports our best athletes today while developing the athletes who will represent Wales in the future. This is an opportunity not simply to manage a team, but to help shape the environment in which Welsh performance athletes can develop, compete and succeed.

We are looking for people who can bring:

  • A passion for lifesaving sport and high performance
  • New ideas and fresh thinking
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • A commitment to developing athletes over the long term
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a performance team
  • A willingness to challenge, improve and develop the way we support Welsh athletes
  • The experience and judgement to create a positive, fair and focused performance environment

Most importantly, you don't have to have all the answers. We want people who can bring their own experience, ideas and ambition to the table and work with SLSA Wales to develop the vision for the future.

Roles available

Performance Pathway Manager

Leading the overall performance programme, including team preparation, selection, coaching and the development of a long-term pathway connecting youth and senior athletes.

Coaches

Working alongside the Performance Pathway Manager to deliver training and competition programmes, support athlete development and contribute to selection and pathway decisions.

Team Administrator

Leading the administration behind the programme, including travel, accommodation, entries, finance, uniforms, communications and competition administration.

Applicants may apply for more than one position, and individuals may be appointed to more than one role where appropriate.

This is about more than the next competition...

We want to develop a programme where athletes can see a clear route from development squads, through the Welsh pathway, and towards senior international representation. The proposed structure includes establishing long-list squads each season, widening the pool of athletes considered for Welsh selection, and delivering a season-long coaching and training programme rather than focusing solely on preparation immediately before a major competition.

If you have the experience, enthusiasm and ideas to help us create that future, we want to hear from you. Whether you have previously managed or coached a Welsh team, have experience developing athletes at club level, or can bring valuable skills from another performance environment, we encourage you to consider applying.

Interested?

Full role descriptions and the application form are available here. Applications should be submitted to secretary@slsawales.org.uk by 6pm on 10 November 2026.
