News

As an association, we have always followed the guidance and rules of the ILSE (European Lifesaving Federation) over the ILS (world) rules. These are normally the same in principle but different language used to aid those for whom English is not their first language.

In October 2019 the ILS released a new rulebook to cover the events in Italy 2020. We are expecting a new rulebook from the ILSE in response. But do not have a time scale and it`s not likely to be received in time for the SLSA Wales Stillwaters.

As a number of our clubs & members will be travelling to Italy in September to take part in the worlds and a rule change a few weeks before the competition may confuse competitors & officials. The sports committee has decided that for the 2020 competition year, SLSA Wales will be following the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) competition Rulebook 2019 Edition.

This will allow competitors to practise the new changes to the rules and events in preparation for the Worlds. We would recommend that all competitors & team managers read the new rulebook to understand the new changes.

The updated 2019 ILS Rule Book can be downloaded from Public Documents in the Members Area.
