News

Following the firebreak announcement from the first minister, all clubs must suspend activities for the duration of a fire break.

Whilst most club won’t be able to train due to the closure of leisure facilities and swimming pools, group outdoor fitness and activities must also cease. Club buildings should also be closed for use during a firebreak.

Should you wish to continue individual training it is key you follow the Welsh Government guidelines. Below are the key aspects of the announcement that relate training and exercise:

a: The lockdown will be in place from 6pm Friday 23 October until the start of Monday 9 November 2020.

b: Exercise should start and finish from your home and you should exercise alone or with a member of your household.

c: As one of the purposes of the restrictions is to reduce pressure on the Welsh NHS, people should avoid activities that involve a significant degree of risk (for example swimming or other exercise at sea, or in lakes, rivers or other waterways).

d: You should not be driving to get to somewhere to exercise, and the need to carry sports equipment isn’t regarded as a justification on its own for driving in these circumstances.

e: Sportspeople who work and earn a living through sport are allowed to continue working, however nobody in our organisation is covered under this. Full guidance can be found here: shorturl.at/gvyI9 (copy and paste link in to your web-browser).

2021 Stillwaters

With the SLSA Wales Stillwater competitions due to take taking place in early 2021 and the recent changes in regulation and cancellation of trial mass participation events it is looking increasing likely that these competitions may not go ahead. The Board of management will be meeting at the end of November and there we will make a clear on or off call based on the regulations at that time. With Christmas between and limited pool time available we feel an early and clear decision will be best for all. We are working the Wales National Pool Swansea to move the dates later in the 2021 calendar and will let you know should a slot become available.
