News

The SLSA Wales Board of Trustees and the Sports Commission have undertaken a further detailed review of possible events for 2021.

The Welsh Government is only now trialling larger events and there is still ongoing uncertainty when more events will be allowed. Therefore, it was felt that the first important priority is for Surf Lifesaving Clubs and members to get back to local club activity on their own beaches with the focus on getting fit and confident and more importantly having fun!

This will be the central theme for all our events in 2021.

Accordingly, it was decided that we will not hold any National Championships this year.

Through July and August, we are planning to run local Twilight events. These will be focusing on the Junior (U15 & U17) age groups with the addition of an Open category. Possible races include Swim, Board, Ski, Ocean man/Woman, Flags, Sprints, Long Run. In order to judge uptake, we ask that interested clubs email:

sport@slsawales.org.uk

giving an indication of how many members in each age group may be keen to take part.

Some events may have to be run with limited numbers due to the ongoing COVID restrictions. However, as we progress through further Government Steps, permitting more activity, we can develop this plan and confirm the final details for these events. As soon as dates and venues are confirmed they will be posted on a SLSA Wales Calendar.
